BYPASS SURGERY VS. WAR

GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY….ARE YOU CONSIDERING IT?

Of all places, the August, 2004 issue of National Geographic had a very interesting article, “Why Are We So Fat?” And some very interesting statistics. As an example, in 2004 it is projected that 144,000 people will have Gastric Bypass Surgery.

Of that 144,000 people, 1% ….that is 1,440 people will die. If this kill ratio was of soldiers in the Iraq war, the nation would be up in arms.

Of that 144,000 people, a full 7% of the rest will have serious complications. That is 10,080 people with serious problems related to the surgery, some with the simplicity of post op pneumonia and others with potential with lifelong effects.

IT’S YOUR LIFE….ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY???
